Maximising Small Spaces

By Darlings Of Chelsea

With space at a premium these days, especially for those of us living in London, we have compiled a list of tips and tricks to maximise your small spaces.

Functional furniture

Utilize furniture that has more than one use such as a sofa bed, storage bed, ottoman storage and wireless technology, this will provide you with useful storage space without compromising on floor space.

Create zones

Use paint or subtle demarcations to evoke rooms, this will give the illusion of a bigger space.

Trick the eye

Utilize floor to ceiling curtains, see-through furnishings and mirrors to draw the eye up and let light through and give the appearance of extra height and depth.

Maximum functionality minimum square footage

An example of this is to use two small tables instead of one big coffee table, they are easy to move and take up less space than one large coffee table.
