Rugs to Suit Your Style

By Darlings Of Chelsea

We at Darlings of Chelsea are very excited about our new collection of fabulous rugs, which will include top brands such as Dash & Albert and Plantation Rug Company. As a little introduction to a few from this range, we thought we’d look at ways you can incorporate them into some popular design schemes.

Minimalist

Clean lines and colours, and simple sophistication are what minimalist is all about. Making a space look good without any unnecessary clutter and ostentatious embellishments. But that doesn’t mean it has to be cold or unwelcoming. This is where furnishings, like rugs, are key. A simple, plain-coloured choice, such as the Dash & Albert Rope rug in Ivory, can bring a much-needed soft edge to a Spartan space.

Boho Chic

Boho chic brings together eclectic themes and looks that complement each other, often with vintage, floral or ethnic elements. Colourful and funky, this style isn’t as much about ‘hippie style’ (as it can sometimes appear initially) as it is about a natural, unaffected, happy-go-lucky feel. Furnishings tend to play a big part in these oft-busy and frenetic spaces. Dash & Albert’s Zanzibar rug, with its light, bright shades and slightly faded, distressed look would certainly fit in amongst such organised chaos.

Geometric

One for the true design lovers. Geometric patterns tend to be big and bold, making a real statement. There can be a danger of overdoing it with such dramatic shapes and designs, but for those who love it and are daring enough to use it in one room (or more!), with cleverly chosen and arranged furniture and accessories, will be rewarded with a really great space. For a rug to perfectly complement such orderly patterns, you can’t go wrong with Plantation’s selection of Geometric rugs.

Industrial

With its distinctive look composed of materials like steel and wood, often including exposed brick walls, Industrial design schemes are a popular choice for warehouse-style apartments, allowing the inhabitants of such abodes to retain original, authentic elements of the building and space they live in. Funky and ultra-modern (though with a slightly rustic edge, due to the nature of how the look has developed), this kind of interior can have a harsh, bleak feel to it, which is where accessories like rugs come in. They add a warm, lived-in feel to spaces like this, but with options like Plantation’s Punk rug, they can still have attitude.

Monochrome

All about contrasts, combinations of black and white, sometimes with the odd pop of colour, make Monochrome a really sleek but fun design scheme. Accessories really set off this two-tone look, keeping it from looking stark and unfriendly. Wall hangings, particularly photo galleries, look great, along with grouped collectables. Rugs are great for softening the edges of these kinds of spaces, but you want to make sure they match. A good pick would be Plantation’s Benni rugs. The slightly differing geometric, diamond designs are given a looser feel due to the thick wool they are made of, and their colours make them ideal for a Monochrome room.

Whatever your style though, there’s such a wide variety of choices within our new rug range, that you’re sure to find something that suits you and your space.
